With 13,735 Volkswagen e-Golf* produced, the Gläserne Manufaktur has set a new production record in 2018. The sharp increase over the previous year (2017: 5,346 e-Golf*) is closely connected with the introduction of the second shift. To meet high demand, since March production at the Gläserne Manufaktur has been carried out from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. – with a total of 72 cars per day. This year, the color “pure white” was particularly popular with customers. Every fourth vehicle was painted in this color. Thirty-six percent of the e-Golfs built in Dresden were exported to Norway, where e-mobility is being heavily promoted. The e-Golf* was very successful in Germany, too: at the end of November, the car stood at second place in the rankings of top-selling electric vehicles. With this year’s record, the Gläserne Manufaktur has exceeded its previous record set in 2011, when 11,166 cars were produced. At that time, the luxury class sedans Phaeton and Bentley Flying Spur were still rolling off the production line.
